The secret is now out about the 2400 & 2500 block of Bernard in Logan Square being the best street to trick-or-treat in the city. Known for its historic homes providing that halloween spooky vibe, Bernard has been a trick-or-treat destination for families across the city since the late 1980s. They are expecting 2,500 kids in 3 hours this year!

The Little-Known History of the Logan Square Catalpa Trees - the Catalpa trees that line the Chicago boulevards are the defining trees of the Logan stretch. These trees are known to be short-lived, having a life span of around 60 years. As these trees perish they will need to be replaced. The Logan Square Preservation Society is working to raise funds to plant new trees.
The sculptures you see around the boulevards are actually art installations commissioned by The Chicago Tree Project aimed at turning dying trees into art.

Pilot Project has now been open for a full week in Logan Square and is said to be Chicago's only experimental brewery incubator. Local brewers who don't have the budget to open their own space can collaborate with Pilot to host their brews. The space is open and offers shared seating, as well as comfy lounge areas for a more intimate setting. It's a great co-working and meeting spot if you're in the area.
Serves Beer all day, coffee & pastries until 4PM, and small fare after 4PM. The matcha waffles are a must!

It has been a little over a 100 days since the devastating fire took place at the Notre-Dame cathedral. Gensler offered their design for the Pavillon Notre-Dame as a gift to the city of Paris with hopes of giving the city a place to worship, as well as a place for the entire community to gather for temporary exhibitions and public performances throughout the year.

With most kids going back to school next week - one way to give back to the community is by donating to Goethe's Ms. Duarte and her students classroom project to provide the students with comfortable reading equipment! Goethe is a Chicago Public School serving Logan Square.

Pairing black cabinets with natural wood, brass hardware/lighting, & light accents will balance out the space. While white kitchens have been all the rage with the clean & fresh look, black is starting to be just as common in our homes as it is in our wardrobe.

The architecture contest for the 21st century modern version of the Chicago bungalow has come to an end with the "Adaptable House" being chosen as the winner. The three finalists out of 133 worldwide submissions were all Chicago architects! The contest was geared toward designing energy efficient homes that are affordable to middle-income Chicagoans. The "Adaptable House" is an 800 sq ft two story, wood framed, peak roof that is adaptable to people at all stages of their lives. The design can be converted from a SFH to a two flat or a live-work space.
The homes are set to be built on two city-owned vacant lots in Bronzeville and north of Garfield Park.
